Victim Support Foundation
Almost every day with increasing recurrence, we see numerous situations in the news where individuals’ lives suddenly come to a violent crossroad or end. The statistics are very real but so are the faces of lives involved. As noted in a Guardian Newspaper article by Radhica Sookraj, published on August 24th 2010, it was reported that a 28 year old man hung himself because he was unable to make his car payments. Too simple to be true! As the writer dug deeper, she revealed the reason for this young man’s low threshold for challenges - at age 14; his father chopped his mother to death before committing suicide in his presence. Although he survived, he never received the emotional support that is necessary after such an ordeal, and as such, he was unprepared to live life.
Since it is evident that there are many silent cries for help, we need to ensure quality professional support is accessible and affordable for all. Help is here!
Victim Support Foundation is here to empower victims to awake to the fact that we can not only survive a life-shaking ordeal, but that we can embrace renewed life and continue on a healthy path to fulfilment. Effecting this positive change in the lives of victims directly benefits marriages, families, schools, businesses, the community and by extension the nation, as they face life’s challenges and experience victories.
